In 1994 Granada and Thames merged to the shock of all ITV. This unnerved AWT who saw their position threatened. To counter this they bought out the rest of Sunrise Television the ITV breakfast provider (they already owned 25%). As if this wasnt enough they then caused convulsions by merging with ITN. This gave AWT or Associated Networks (AN) as they were now know the only 7 day reach in ITV. Sunrise was the most affected. The relaunch in 1995 was something of a mixed bag. AN were financially constrained by the acquistions of ITN and Sunrise and therefore had to make do with what they had in terms of presentation. So on the 3rd of January 1995. Sunrise viewers were startled by not just the new look but the a musical blast from the past. Sunrise Reports was the hour long news bulletin between 6 and 7 AM. Being made by ITN it provided Sky and the BBC a run for their money. AM UK was the magazine programme. This video contains the start of Sunrises transmission.
